he said he didnt get the money again. arrggg................ my friend is trying . i should of done snail mail. would of been there. LOL

finally !! the money was received. they will be in the mail monday. he said i will get them tuesday . I know that means wednesday. I hope all is good. to me, 50 dollars is a lot for 2 chickens and some maybe eggs. i never had shipped eggs before and he said he was packing them in a plastic jar because they would go in the same box as the chickens. said he would tape the jar against the side of the box. I think any egg that is shipped and knocked around is a miracle to hatch. warm days cool nights, just dont seem likely. my foot is still infected and a bit painful. i have drs. appt. wednesday. thats how i know the chickens will come that day. it will be 2 trips to town. lol

I havent done it yet but Grannys making plans....  I think people that keep chickens in the house are a bit ,well, obsessed. not my business.  i am planning on buying a pr. of seramas  . actually my friend is supposed to do a pay pal for me tonight or in the morning.  I think he is just pretty much just charging shipping. 50 dollars total. he offered eggs also but i think i am going to pass. its just the wrong time of the yr. so they need heat to 40 degrees in the winter. about the size of a fist and i am wondering what kind of mess they would be in a brooder in the house till spring. they are 3-4 months old. i wouldnt have to ask anyone to care for them and it may brighten my day. i dont like the messes though and if it gets to be too much i guess i can put them out even if its cold. not sure about that . my brooder floor is wood and that makes it a bit hard on odor control.  i dont want to clean a cage every day. has anyone done this before ?  will it stink or bad to be breathing?

I hatched some chicks years ago in winter had them in my laundry room till march...crazy I know!! I had sand in my wooden brooder and cleaned it everyday just like cats litter box?? Haha! It wasn't bad as far as smell?

my brooder wont hold sand, it would just spill out. i have found out that i am getting a breeding pr. I wonder if i could put them with all the others after quarantine. in the big coop and put a heat light there but the others are much bigger and may take the heat. if the eggs hatch i will have to do the same. keep them in the house for a while. i have done that too and its fun for about 3 days then i am ready for them to go out. with seramas i know thats not gonna happen.

I didn't know better back in the day but I was given a set of seabrights and just brought them home and put them right in with my orphingtons. Its must be true God takes care of the ignorant lol because nothing happened :)

I got out of the house today. i had to take a pain pill but it was nice to go. lol hit up 2 flea markets. i bought a horse shoe door stop because my dog frosty decided he didnt like the one i had been using. i woke up last night to the sound . i knew right away what it was. the thing is , she has it under my bed where no one else can reach. it was something some balloons were attached to and it had foil type stars and ribbons on it. i have purple stars all over the floor. i cant bend over to pick them up and every time she goes under there the stars start flying. i also bought a beautiful glass vase . it is very big and it is clear with colors swirled through it and a few dots. 4 bucks. I am getting pretty excited about the chickens. i have only had bad luck with shipping them. 3 times and dead each time. I did get spazz a day late but he was ok. she put pomegranate half and apple half in the box w/ him. he went after the pom. the most.

I forgot to say i also bought the flock a pumpkin. if its a wormer or not i dont know and really dont care. i wormed them already. I just know they like it and thats good enough for me. LOL

I think my chickens are defective. They don't like pumpkin.

My chickens don't like raw pumpkin either. I also thought that I had defective chickens, but then I realised that they were just very very spoiled - I found that if I cooked pumpkin they attacked it like pirhanas! I now cook chunks of marrow, courgette, pumpkin etc and throw them out - they disappear within minutes. They have so much choice in all the food, scraps and free-ranging that they have (1000 square metres of back garden for 8 chickens) that they have become really picky about what they eat!

However, sometimes they throw me a curve ball - they've recently decided to eat sweet (bell) pepper seeds, when a few months ago they wouldn't even touch them. For some reason a flock's tastes seem to change over time - don't ask why - it's just because they're chickens
