Kathy, yes, those are the pictures. they really helped me out just last night w/ the wormer.
Enola, I was thinking the same thing. i would like to know what i am dealing with though because of the rest of the flock. tractor supply shelves were stripped of anything useful and probably like that for the winter. I did find some probiotics but they were clearance so they may be old. there is so many stickers on it i cant read directions. lol they are new to me also. little blue and white bottle of i am guessing a powder. normally 9.99 for 6.99

drs. appt didnt go so well. the infection in my foot is shall we say, more then skin deep. there was peeling skin he took off and he got a q-tip (on a stick) lol and went digging to see how far it went and to take a sample of the puss to culture. he gave me a bigger ouchy. he called in a wound care nurse to see if it would benefit from daily packing and they want to send someone out now to pack it. they also have a band-aid that is some type of sponge with meds. in the sponge and I did ask if we could try that first. he is giving me a week with them and more antibiotics. i will not be allowed to shower but every 3 days

guess it goes without saying, i am a bit sore right now.

I don't remember what your chickens had when they were sick last time. But I do know that chickens that have chronic respiratory tract infections are usually carriers of whatever virus they were infected with. To keep my flock free of these diseases...... I quarantine EVERYTHING that comes on my place for three weeks. Then I pick a chicken (out of my chicken house) to put in with the new chickens. If that chicken gets sick, I cull that chicken and ALL of the new chickens. I don't care how much I paid for them or how cute they are or how valuable they may be. I have not had a sick chicken for 30 years.

I have a huge feeder and huge waterer in with all quarantined chickens. That way I only have to feed them one time a week. They are up on wire so I don't walk on their manure. After feeding them I put ALL of my clothes in the washer and wash them immediately. I NEVER go from the quarantine cage to the chicken coop. ALL feeders and waterers are kept in the quarantine cage NEVER taken out and used for other chickens.

omg, i dont have that much energy enola. they had suspected mg. but they are gone and the coop was disinfected. I have been told by someone that knows their stuff that they more then likely are infected again. i started the worming yesterday and today they have long very skinny worms in their poop. it has been recommended that i cull. I am just lost. i dont want to lose these new chickens but i have some in the coop it is going to be very hard to part with. I am too tired to deal with this now. i have failed.

lets celebrate !! the last day of worming, the coop is cleaned , the fresh shavings are down, the tylan has been giving, the ivermectin is down the gullet and the denaguard has been ordered ! all i did was sit in a lawn chair and give shots and the other 2 meds as they passed by me. even that little bit has me in great pain though. my foot and for some reason my back. it got too dark to do the mite treatment in the coop but they will be back tomorrow to finish up. That was a lot of work and he only bumped his head on the rafters 3 times today.

That's so awesome! I'm glad you got help and got some work done. :)

thank you, me too. i thought about putting them down pretty hard but this is the second time and i remembered about the denaguard as a preventive and thought i would give it a go. after all the illness i have been through med. in the water once a month sounds like butter to me. Its bound to be all around me. the birds, soil, something. I really think the worms had a ton to do with it. they were round worms and the last time i wormed them, even with all the help i had, i still did it wrong. hopefully they will start putting some weight on before it gets too cold out. some how with the time i have been having i kinda expect something else to pop up.

In case you all haven't figured it out already i have to say, i have dementia. actually i was told i have double dementia. lol its nothing severe as of now and hopefully not for a long time. it is the reason someone may of told me a month ago or even a week ago what to do for the chickens and I havent done it. I want a health flock and it seems as if i have to work twice as hard as anyone else and still end up with crap. there are as many positive notes as there are negative. for example, hiding easter eggs and being able to go look for them an hr. later. (never did find 2 of them) . Not being mad at any one. why should i be? what did you ever do/say to me? LOL its a simple life and i have never forgot who i love and who has showed me kindness. It may just be a blessing in a costume . so if i dont remember what you told me or i repeat myself a couple of times please forgive or overlook because i still remember that you have been here with your help and support.

WARNING: GROSS PIC.

My poor little flock has fowl pox right now, and the roo has it the worst. These are the sussex that I got for $30 from a man with a gorgeous home and barn and lots of other gorgeous shiny chickens. They've been nothing but sick for me. I hadn't had a chance to check the roo for lice (treated two hens for awful infestations, still have one to catch) until tonight. SO. MANY. LICE.

I sprayed him for the lice and gave him a couple of drops of VetRX for his poor eye. He's not coughing, sneezing, wheezing, and he doesn't sound snotty, so hopefully we'll get through this in the next week.

I couldn't catch him sooner because he's big and strong and I'm pretty scared of him. Isn't that silly? He's never even done so much as ruffle a feather in my direction, but I'm just terrified if picking him up. Luckily he was roosting right beside the door.

aww, poor thing ! i dont know anything about pox except there is a wet and dry and one is worse then the other. can he see? is there treatment or will you have to cull him? spill it !
