The leaves of tomato plants often respond to different stresses by curling or rolling. If your tomato plants suffer from leaf rolling or curling, some simple garden-sleuthing can help you determine the cause and an appropriate remedy. Planting disease-resistant varieties is a first step toward preventing serious tomato problems, and most leaf curl issues in home gardens can be corrected so the plants can continue to grow and produce fruits.

Non-parasitic leaf roll is another climatic problem. Irregular irrigation and improper pruning cause the leaf edges to roll inward, sometimes to the point of overlapping. When most of the leaves on the plant are affected by this condition it may look serious, but it is not permanent. The remedy is deep, even watering on a regular basis and careful pruning.

Curled leaves from lack of nitrogen? Mulch with pine straw that makes soil more acidic. Add egg shells for calcium to prevent blossum end rot.

We don't have pine straw. Would shavings work? Think I have some organic fertilizer that could give the nitrogen a boost. We put powered shell around when we plant. No end rot this year! I have one HUGE tomato tree that has grown very well, full of blossoms, and only set one puny fruit. Very frustrating, and I LOVE tomatoes. Going to redo the soil for next year and see if that helps.

Coffee grounds contain nitrogen, potassium, potassium, magnesium, copper, and other trace minerals.

I used coffee grounds this year with egg shells and I had wonderful tomatoes.
I also used a mixture of horse poop and chicken poop mixed in with my dirt.

We have tried all different watering methods over the years. I think it is soil related. Nothing a good pile of sh-- poo can't fix!

Mites & viruses cause leaf curl. Also wind & dry weather. If we have dry weather i use drip irragation for tomatoes. I put the hose dowm brfore i mulch with pine straw.
