**Graphic** pic. food stealing varmit, chicken killer ** GRAPHIC**

We can put them on our bodies, just not "in" our bodies!

On one's head, not in one's coop. Absolutely!

Those who do partake should consider pressure cooking at 15psi for 45min. (in merlot and beef broth). Well, it works great for Snapping Turtles...

That coon was pretty skinny. probably would have died a little later this year anyway.

At least it didn't have to go through the pain of starvation.

What in the heck are you doing to a delicious snapper? Pressure cook? with merlot???

No no no.... just drag it in flour, chicken fry it for an hour and it will be darned good.

Tail, maybe use that for soup... A turtle does get stronger tasting the further back on the animal you go. Neck is great, front legs good, back legs so so(great in soup), tail soup only....

You guys wouldn't eat my pet Desert Tortoise "Zoop" would you?
He is now about 70 to 90 years old. Older than me even!!

He is really big... he weighs about 20 to 25 lbs.

Spartacus (The dog) is a 150lb beastie, so you can see this is one big tortoise!!

Hmmm, after beating it it flat? We put up 14qt.s of turtle stew last year, and I've got my eye on another couple volunteers harrassing the grass carp in the pond at present (wish the rain would let up!). Oh, we only have the thirty pound Alligator Snappers up this way (not the Big Commons). That being said, no one around here skinny dips.

Used to find those guys out in the Anza Borrego desert, when I was a kid (early `60's). We found two with graffitti carved into their shells (one had a date of 1937). No, not enough meat, and I'm not sure about the flavor because of their lettuce habit...

no such thing as off topic on this thread.
the coon has been coming up and stealing dog food and everything else, ran it off several times and it just sneaks back and they go at it again. the river is almost a stone throw away and I've walked down there often, it's been treed on several occasions and spent the evening and night in a tree again that was the last time if it had got down and left there's plenty to eat in the woods or down at the river it just preferred easy pickings, caged, free ranged or in a bowl.

no I wouldn't eat the turtle although people do and frog legs are fair game. in some countries dogs and cats are also fair game. I hear horse is good eating also along with goat lamb, cheese burgers and hot dogs.

lol he wasn't starving just wouldn't go away. of all the places to root around he or she picked the worst place, plenty to eat down at the river and in the woods it just wouldn't stay there.
