GRAPHIC PICS of my day learning to caponize

Pics
I got a Chinese capon set.  I got the cockerel set.  I PM'ed him through here and he corresponded likewise.  Sometimes it did take a day or so to get back.  Here is a snippet of an email regarding the pricing.  Unfortunately, it is not a monetary "conversion" from their website.  I think they use an enterprising advantage and price accordingly.  With that said, I did buy the set and the spreader is a lot different than anything I had access to here.

the price of tools for the cockerel is $38,there are three piece a set, include spreader, tweezer, and another one i don't know what's the name in English.and we give you a reel of thread for free.and the price of tools for the rooster is $48,there are five piece a set. the postage is depends on which country you are from.if you have any other question you can sent me message.or call to our office.this is telephone number.0775 -- 2822188.

Yes ,we use paypal, this is paypal account[email protected].and the postage to us is $36.so the tatal price is$74.by air ,you can get it in a week. and please leave your detailed address and phone number.

WOW. Seems to be a pretty high shipping charge to me. No, not pretty high, "I'm wearing a mask and a gun" high.

I've ordered the water nipples from China, 5 for like $5, standard free shipping and got them in 2 weeks. I can wait.

Yes - that price is too high!! Doing OK with retractors from eBay along with spoon forceps from antique Pilling set and a pair of hemostats.

Actually that's a very reasonable price for shipping overseas. I sent a box of candy to Australia and it cost me over $50 (it WAS a lot of candy!).

The shipping may be reasonable I haven't shipped anything overseas so I really don't know, but for me the total cost of over $70 means I really need to weigh how much better (if any) they really would be over what I already have or can get for another $15. I'm kinda thinking if I am putting that kind of money into an additional tool it would be the cauterizer for $50 rather then the chinese retractor. The cauterizer could be used to slow/stop additional blood loss and help to extract the more firmly attatched testes.

I'm pretty sure that shipping charge means International Express Mail. Which is not needed. I'm very sure a lower rate shipping can be gotten. Also I did the conversion for the price, and it's like around $20 American. What this person paid just seems really out there to me. I could be wrong, but wow. Just wow.

Edit: the reason I say that person paid for Express is because they stated it would be at his or her house in a week. That is what International Express promises.. I'm sure that another method can be gotten. Making the price much lower.

I got an email response back today and the price he quotes is the same as was in the previous post for the kit and the shipping, there was no mention of any alternative shipping or any conversion at all just a paypal addy to pay the $76.

Not to jump topic, but I know people discussed using super glue instead of stitches if necessary, on Saturday with my one failed attempt I did use super glue (Locktite super glue)on the rooster, other than gluing myself to the rooster, the super glue did not hold. I checked it around noon and saw that the sore was completely opened so I tried to glue it again but folded the skin differently, it looked like it would hold but around 7 pm it was open again!! So I just left it the next morning the wound had closed up on it's own and looked ugly but closed, then today it looks much better and closed just fine. I sprayed the wound with Solarcaine, first aid medicated spray and used Betadine several times. He is running around the back yard today trying to fight the other boys.

Seems like a Gelpi retractor would be better for this...they are as small as 3.5" on ebay & very cheap too.

I am having the extra prongs on the weitlaner ground off to leave just 1 and 2 "teeth" which I think will work better and help minimize the incision and spread.

ETA:

oops, guess I should read all the way thru before posting

Thanks for the update on the superglue, and that it healed well w/o stitches.
