This chicken is not dead

Would they (especially Boo) bother tiny chicks if you had some?
They never have. I've had chicks with and without mother hens running loose near my cats without any problem. I think the fact that I had adult chickens when they showed up has made them more likely to see them as friends not prey. Boo likes to dust bathe with the chickens and I've seen her right up against a mama hen & her chicks.
I would always advise caution when dealing with cats and dogs around chickens, especially younger flocks.

Wait! Kelly! I just realized you called me a senior! I mean, I like the discounts but I'm not ready to "graduate" 🤣
I have cats. I should be used to tripping over pets. The hen's name is Pumpkin btw.
Go ahead and laugh. It was pretty funny after the fact. The UPS guy and neighbors for miles got an ear full of fowl language as I was on my way down.

A family friend tripped over the dog and head first went into the kitchen island.

She walked around in extreme pain for three days before finally going to emerg, an X-ray showed she had fractured her neck! A surgeon was brought in to assess the fracture, in the end they went with a head neck shoulder immobilizing system for 3 months!

Pets can be dangerous!

Once again Reenie is up to her old tricks - it freaks me out seeing her eyes open in the dark. And yes it’s pitch dark in there, it only looks light because my stall cam has IR lighting.

Don’t worry she’s alive… upright with four legs and 2 eyes 😉

Yikes! I had a patient that fractured her neck in a similar way. She tripped over her cat in the bathroom and laid there for two days until a delivery man heard her calling for help and called 911. She was in a halo contraption for 12 weeks, got an infection where the bolts rubbed her skin, and had to have the halo replaced for a few more weeks, then rehab for almost a year.
The cat went to live with her granddaughter.

Oh dear, that’s usually what happens too (both cat and infection), I am trying to be more careful myself, but those darn chicks are the worst! They get right underfoot!

Such an adorable group. Are you keeping all 3, or will the pullets go with the cockerel?

Well seeing as how I brought MG into the flock when I brought those two Polish chicks home, I can’t in all good conscience rehome any cockerels. Or even bring anything in unless it’s vaccinated.

I would not want to send the wee monkey to a new home and he infect their chickens. So he will stay, and who knows if they other two are girls or boys, you know silkies - crows or lays an egg. The only reason I am speculating he’s a he is the presence of those wattles. Never seen wattles like that on a silkie this young before!

And of course same situation with those Polish - they could very well be boys also! So I could have brought the wee turnips here and infected my flock for nothing if they are boys.

Bad Kelly! I felt sorry for them, I know better than go to a livestock sale. That’s how I would end up with useless horses in the past!

I know what you are saying. No one leaves my yard either.
But, wait! What's that about useless horses? I had no idea there was such a thing! 🤣
