GRAPHIC PICS of my day learning to caponize

I know from processing that size varies greatly from roo to roo. I've had several of the same age with ginormous ones and some with ones like you described. I would definitely remove them regardless, since you already have him open.

Well, boys number 2 and 3, I wasn't sure what I was looking at and by the time I stewed on it and decided that what I was looking at were testicles, it had been hours. Number 3, I was trying to snip the main connective tissue and he started pumping blood. I thought I had killed him. Now, I think it would have bled like that if I had used the thread so it probably wouldn't have made a difference. If I run into it again, I probably will go ahead and try to cut it loose and remove it. I know I didn't clip the artery but it scared me enough that I didn't realize that the big veins branching out on top of the testicle would have to bleed when cutting the main connective tissue/line, whatever it is called.

I don't give up but I may take a break from things I am doing to try to figure out the best way to go back to it or to try to understand it better. I chose to start with roosters that I had no bond with so that if I did kill them, I wouldn't be so upset that I wouldn't want to continue with other birds.

I reversed the translation and what came out, was confusing. I hope you can understand what I was trying to say.

Invertí la traducción y dar cuerpo a lo que , era confuso . Espero que puedan entender lo que yo estaba tratando de decir .

Even this came out wrong. LOL So sorry, I hope you understand.

For those big boys it is hard, the learning curve is MUCH steeper. The only way I have seen the big boys done successfully has been w/ the thread. And it takes a while longer w/ the big boys, you have to be very deliberate w/ them.

Well, that answered my question. I have 12 cockerels that are Crested Cream Legbar cock over White Leghorns. Too much leghorn in the mix. I know that they aren't as flighty as a leghorn but I don't think I'll chance it. Bummer. Thoughts?

I have never tried Leghorns I don; think, but when ever I get a patient that is a little jittery or doesn't want to lay still I find a way to get something over his eyes so he can't see. That has always calmed them right down for me. But then you have to get down to business as I doubt them high strung
ones are gonna give you all day to get er done ;) Good Luck !
