That looks intriguing, and doesn't look to big at all.

Boy is caponizing a touchy subject in the rest of the population. I am not letting that deter me, as I think it might be a good plan for growing out AND tenderizing roos in the process. Right now, I am dealing with 3 remaining cockerels that are OEGB/PR mixes. They got very aggressive all of a sudden, and tried to kill the new hatches. I had integrated the July 1st hatch in with the adults and the April 1st hatch. Did the overnight placement thing and all. The OEGB teen roos went right for the youngsters. Tried to rip them to pieces. Got the rest of the flock all riled up in the process. I ended up taking 2.5 hours rounding up and catching the bad boy cockerels. Of which there were 4 originally. I had one PR cockerel who thought he was one of the "gang". He is now in freezer camp.
I had to put them all in the chicken tractors I have. Since they were all ok with each other before, I had to put 2 cockerels in the same cage. Bad idea. By the afternoon, the one attacked the other. So now they are all spread out. The one PR cockerel was showing signs of potentially flogging me, so he lost his head last Wednesday. His testes were HUGE !!![]()
Yeah...I think it might be time to learn the art of caponization.
Now my next step is to order a kit. I need to have the tools ready before I get more chicks.
Shoot, just mention the big "B".....butchering...will get you in deep trouble too!!!![]()
