BCMaraniac, I am so pumped up about the tools. Poco charged my paypal for shipping today and will be shipping. After I get some chickens to practice on you DO realize I'm gonna be on the phone to you ...

A little "skeered"

Don't feel bad.....my hands were sweaty, I was having palpitations, and my very first bird bled out because I nicked the vena cava .......a VERY quick demise. You can't do any worse than me......but I got back on the horse because I knew if I didn't do it, then I wouldn't. Important thing.....take your time. Watching the 6 second capon video is intimidating, especially if you are going slow and feel like it is taking a week to get one side.

If you get one side, then have bleeding, don't sweat it.....just stop. If you get bleeding that you feel uncomfortable with.....just stop. Worst case scenario is you process him early like any rooster. My goal after I lost my first one was that the bird survive. For me that worked. I've had several slips, but some good meat. Worst case, lots of chicken and dumplings....LOL.
