GRAPHIC PICS of my day learning to caponize

My clothes hanger separator.

My birds are getting bigger every few hours it seems... it's looking like I might mcguyver something up and grab a few of the bigger ones in a week or two to thin the flock a bit.

This is a big learning experience/curve. I better start getting my vodka soaking my meyer lemon zest for drinking after our first attempt soon. It's likely going to be needed by me & my bf that weekend.

Bahahaha Good luck on the processing. Vodka w/lemon zest? Interesting.

Yes I make lemoncello with vodka, meyer lemon zest & juice & simple suryp. It's delicious and packs a punch!

I make all manner of infused cordials, I'm working on making a moonshine still. To make ethanol for making more gifts, as I get about 2 lbs of vanilla beans every year to make my own vanilla extract. Homesteading a bit at a time :)

Hmm, of course I threw out all my wire clothes hangers, but my bf has a metal working shop on our property and we have a bit of metal & a milling lathe & tig welder, we might could make something work?!

I'd be open to buying an "extra" set also.. my cockrels are getting bigger every day. If they start crowing.. uh oh.

To top it off, I'm almost 100% sure my 2 week old ayam cemani chick with no tail feathers and already getting a big comb is a roo too. So he needs to be caponized too, I want a big black meat juicy chicken for a holiday dinner..

Yes, but I'm not patient. I have a double order placed I believe with poco. I just am looking at my itty bitty peep peeps and thinking "please don't start crowing". The sooner the better for me to caponize a few of these boys! My bf has now started naming them (oh oh)
