GRAPHIC PICS of my day learning to caponize

I saw those and wondered how they would work, seems like they would give better veiwing too. I wasn't sure if their would be a negative trade off w/ just the one point of contact on each side. I really want one of the chinese caponizing kits, but so far have been unsuccessful at communicating w/ them, still trying though.

Now that Ive done this I think these would actually work better. If the points were blunted you could simply lay them into the cut site then turn them under the ribs. I have an email address from the Han caponizing company. Ill post tomorrow when I'm back at the office, says he takes pay pall payments. From what I can tell the kit uses a variation of the cannula system (like your teachers straw wire). The rib spreader looks to be better than any others Ive seen the retractors included. The Weitlaner does work just takes a bit of effort. SO far the best $ I spent was on an antique Montgomery Ward set - the extractor alone was worth it, the spreader is ok, but I used the weitlaner on most of my birds.

Do you have a link to pictures of the chinese caponizing set or the montgomery ward set? Edit: Is the Nasco caponizing kit the one you guys are talking about?

I will be purchasing a set from them in about a week, like Kassandra that retractor is what I really want, although the tweezers look as though they would also be very good. There is no arguing they are getting the job done fast with these tools.

Here is a picture of another MW caponizing set, exactly the same as the one I purchased including a probe that wasn't in my box. The extractor is the tool in the lower right hand corner of the box and it works extremely well. I say that not knowing if I have any "slips" at this point. Prior to delivery I was using a set of beading tweezers which I bent and filed, while this worked I think any slips I do have came will come from these birds as opposed to the ones done with this extractor.

The rib spreader here was just ok maybe a little easier to use than the retractor but not significantly so.

I was just looking at the pics on the last page of the Chinese thread, I notice he is only stretching the leg on the same side he makes the incision. I wonder if this position makes it easier to remove both organs from the 1 side. Has anyone tried this?

I had not even noticed that, awesome question and observation.

I hope someone responds because I'd love to have those tools too. Or maybe I can find someone that speaks Chinese to help. I did the conversion and the price is only around $21 American.

I got a Chinese capon set. I got the cockerel set. I PM'ed him through here and he corresponded likewise. Sometimes it did take a day or so to get back. Here is a snippet of an email regarding the pricing. Unfortunately, it is not a monetary "conversion" from their website. I think they use an enterprising advantage and price accordingly. With that said, I did buy the set and the spreader is a lot different than anything I had access to here.

the price of tools for the cockerel is $38,there are three piece a set, include spreader, tweezer, and another one i don't know what's the name in English.and we give you a reel of thread for free.and the price of tools for the rooster is $48,there are five piece a set. the postage is depends on which country you are from.if you have any other question you can sent me message.or call to our office.this is telephone number.0775 -- 2822188.
