*Graphic* Quail Necropsy - possible Egg Yolk Peritonitis

Before I threw everything away and cleaned up, I found one of the yellow "shells" that was further along its way to becoming an egg, and indeed it looked just like the rotting, soft-shelled eggs I used to often find. Brownish that was darker at one end and mixed with black speckles. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures of that or of the eggs she used to lay.
Those sound like they may have been lash eggs, which aren't actually eggs, but rather expelled masses of infection. That would be consistent with salpingitis.

Now that I have learned this, I very much agree. She must have been suffering for quite awhile -- the soft-shelled rotting eggs had been an occurrence for a long time. :( This is not feed-related, is it?
The reason why I stress about what people should or shouldn't feed their birds is because these type of illnesses are much more prone in overweight birds.
Treats can equal an overweight bird extremely quickly...where you don't even notice your bird is overweight.

Treats take away from them getting a balanced diet and not getting a balanced diet in itself can cause these type of problems too.

The eggs she laid were actually egg-shaped. The lash eggs I have seen online do not looks like eggs. Could it still be salpingitis?

That makes sense. I will stop the treats. Is it okay to keep them on 24% feed for now and then move them, possibly, to a mixture of chicken feed and the 30% game bird feed?

I would not mix their feed if I were you.
I see no problem keeping them on the 24% feed if it has enough calcium and it is a crumble or pellet.

Never feed a grain feed.

Okay. The thing is, the 24% feed bag is running low and the only other thing we have is 30%.
