Fox will take the animal away to eat and all the feathers would be removed and more of the bird would be eaten. Unless you interrupted him and found your bird away from the barn a ways. I still say racoon. Good luck!

it is a mote point but it is just as illegal to harass one of those wonderful, beautiful, amazing raptors as it is to shoot the little darling "Graveyard Dead." Basically any human/hawk interaction is verboten under the law, even taking candy (or prey) from a Coopers.

Look at the OP's location - "Rechasim, Isreal." Raccoons only live in North America.

That would be a racoon. They eat the neck head always and oppsums eat usually just abdomin and intestines.. they can eat more if they are extremely hungry, but that's a general rule. Skunks dont usually eat an adult bird, but more want eggs or chicks.

Found my rooster just like that last fall from a coon and it was graphic and upsetting. Sorry to hear about your loss. A dog and a box trap will do the trick. Relocation of a few miles will keep him from returning too quickly or at all. Some people shoot them, but no matter how pissed I am I cant.

I realize they only live in North America. I did not read where they were from in previous posts.

It's not placed in someone's yard..and animal control relocates them.

Yeah it will keep coming back unfortunately. Are your chickens in a safe coop that predators can't get into?
we've had chickens for at least 5 years and lost many to foxes, we've learnt one of the hardest things is keeping them safe.
We figured out not to let the chickens out of the coop before 10am and lock them back up well before dusk, because foxes are most active during these times.
We've also got 2 dogs that protect them. But buying a dog will not always work for protecting chooks because some dogs will kill them so unless you have the time and the knowledge to properly train a dog, I don't recommend running out a buying one.
The floor of our coop is now concert so the foxes can't dig through, also the opening to the coop is small, foxes don't like going through small openings because they feel like they will be trapped. The opening gets closed up during the times I mentioned above to keep them safe. In the coop we have perches about one and a half to two meters high, when the chickens feel worried they fly up high onto the safe perches. We haven't lost any chickens in a long time but still catch foxes on camera every night checking out the coop incase we forgot to close the door. i hope I've said some useful things

Can you tell me what law says you can not scare off a raptor and then take the chicken it has killed? I'm sorry but the only laws I know of that involve raptors are the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, The Endangered species Act, and the Bald and Golden Eagle protection Act. The Bird Treaty Act prohibits the trade of wild raptors and it prohibits ownership of wild raptors or products made by wild raptors such as feathers, eggs, or parts of the nest without a permit. These rules go for ALL birds listed in the Act, not just raptors. The Endangered species act stops you from disturbing endangered animals in the environment without a permit. This Act would stop you from disturbing endangered species, so you would not be able to scare away endangered raptors. And the Bald and Golden Eagle protection Act stops you from messing with Bald and Golden eagles. Sorry I have not read through all these Acts fully but you clearly have so could you point out which act and in what part it talks about these laws? Also, anything that is illegal is just as illegal as anything else, stealing a banana is just as illegal as killing a human, they have different punishments but are still the same amount of "illegal." So yes if it is truly illegal to spook a hawk it would be just as illegal to kill one or to kill a human. The punishment for killing raptors is much different than, for example, having a hawk feather. Both are the same amount of "illegal" but both have very different punishments. Sorry for not knowing that you could not "harass" raptors, I don't appreciate the mocking, a simple "it is illegal to harass raptors too" would have been good enough.
