As others have mentioned, I'll usually put one bag of clippings in when I mow. In addition to the grass, I'm sure they also find crickets (or parts
), spittle bugs, grasshoppers (again, maybe parts), etc mixed in with the clippings. Of course my girls think the lawnmower bag is a big, giant chicken eater, but once the clippings are on the ground and I've exited the run, they're thrilled with their treat!
