Grass in Brooder ?

Was just reading an article and post about deep litter (the whole concept intrigues me) and I got to wondering: Can I put grass in the brooder with chicks? In addition to wood chips, I mean?

BTW, It is 1:17 p.m. I am about to dress and go drive the gazillions of miles to store to pick up my FIRST ever baby chicks. Ize about to be a chicken mamma, yaw'll!!!!!

Yes. Most old poultry manuals regard it as essential for the health and wellbeing of chicks.
