3 great friendly chicken breeds (according to me) are
Speckled Sussex: I have had/have 3 of them. they make great pets (by experiance) and are also great layers and could be used for meat.
Silkie: OMGOSH The best fluff ever! Small and kind. Roos are still the luck of the draw. (like all breeds) Great layers!
Lavender Orpington: Speachless no words except like the SS but slightly better.

All of these are so great.
Recommending for starting flock (nothing agenst silkies) get SS and LO like 3-4 of each maybe. Silkies do not go well with bigger breeds (again experiance) but great fluff balls of joy!

The two i have are just a little squirmy so my lavender orp is a bit friendlier. the SS i had (sadly passed from heat stroke) was really friendly and would SCREAM at the fence when she saw us. RIP Thomas Jefferson more commonly known as Jeffo!

Yes. That's one of the reasons why I keep them
