Now if they would lift the ban on exportation of crude oil, we would be in business. We produce light, sweet crude oil, but our refineries are built to process the heavy, sour crude that is produced in the middle east.

We haven't seen a refinery built in the US in years. People hate the oil companies, but they still expect to be able to fill up for next to nothing.

I remember the gas wars of the 1950's. I saw gasoline at 19 cents a gallon, plus they washed the windows, checked the oil and the tire pressure. Then they gave away free drinking glasses and a raffle ticket for a Caddilac.

My mother used to pray that she would win the darn car. The rest of the family would pray that she didn't.

What makes you think we need to build more refineries ?

Funny I knew a mother of five kids who was a full time nurse, and took classes to become a mortician and her husband worked full time and then some (power line worker, in Indiana) he had to work extra hours when, we had snow, heavy rain storms, tornadoes, ice storms. Here in the rust belt Linemen make GOOD money BEFORE overtime. she could have easily been a stay at home mom or just worked a register at a store from 9-3 when the kids where in school thru the school year and 9-1 and used summer school as her day care and had any extras her husbands paycheck couldn't pay for.

Well Dennis, if our refineries can only process the heavy sour crude from the mid east and what we have coming out of the ground here is light sweet crude, we have to either build refineries or export our light crude.

Currently, the federal law prohibits the export of crude oil. However, it appears that some of the by products may qualify for export.

I think we should adapt the refineries to process our production, but that may not be possible in some cases. We need to build the appropriate refineries.

Some where, some how, it became immoral to succeed or excel in your chosen profession. I think it starts in kindergarten when all kids get two cookies, no matter how smart, motivated and successful they are. People seem to feel that the successful ones have to carry the laggards and dullards.

Eventually, the whole population becomes social parasites because intelligence and hard work are punished. There has to be a penalty for laziness and stupidity. Conversly, the successful and hard working have to be rewarded with something other than an onerous tax bill.

People should not conceive children they cannot afford to raise in a decent life style. There is birth control and there is self control. But somehow, the single mother has somehow been raised to sainthood. I don't know why? When a couple conceive a child, they should realize they are in a twenty year commitment. No matter what happens, they need to stay together and raise that child the best way possible.

My sons had friends that never knew their fathers and some never even knew who he possibly could be. Before a man lays down with a woman, he should think "do I really want to spend the next twenty years with her and a child?"

Having children and expecting others to provide for them is purely stupid.

So what is the matter with exporting the higher cost light oil and importing the lower cost heavy oil ?

Our refineries don't just process heavy oil, there are many refineries that still process the light oil. We spent about a dozen years and a few billion dollars changing just some of the refineries to process heavy oil.

We have enough refineries and that's why we are able to be a net exporter of refined oil products. But even with that they are building new refineries here.

Well Dennis, fist off, it is illegal to export crude. The law banning the export would have to be revoked. That isn't going to happen with the people in power still in power. They hate the oil companies.

If we had refineries that would handle light sweet crude, they would be doing it. Unfortunately, we seem to have a lot of people in this country that seem to think that gasoline shouldn't be refined in their neighborhood. But they still want cheap gas. They are incensed that the gas companies are making three cents a gallon on gas but are happy to see the government tax it no end.

I don't know how it will all work out. I guess we will find out soon enough.

It must suck to be the Ukraine. With the friends they have in the European Union, who needs enemies. http://www.pennenergy.com/articles/...mid-gas-needs.html?cmpid=EnlResearchJuly92014

Now let's see how long it takes the Russians to bring the Baltic Republics back into the fold.

You seem to be a little out of date.

There are refineries here that are refining the light oil, what makes you think there isn't ?
