Yes, and in fact providing materiel to one side and not the other is generally perceived as a violation of neutrality.

The Axis would likely not have invaded the US - the supply line would have been to long.

The US learned *after* the Cold War that any efforts to actually land on or invade the United States mainland - including Alaska - were never on the table. Apparently Soviet spies had terrified the Kremlin with the fact that the US oppressed workers were heavily armed, in contrast to the elevated workers of the Soviet Union who were disarmed by their government. It seems they feared being sniped at from behind every bush, and from every urban window.
The second quote is debated but if it was said, this is who was supposed to have said it...

Quote: Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto "You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass."

"I fear all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."

The Japanese may have had the same opinion as the Soviets. However, Stalin and Khrushchev were both of the opinion that fanatical ignorant Americans would have attacked any Soviet Army of Liberation.

The US plan regarding the west coast during WWII was interesting. The Pacific Coast, with the exception of California, was told it would be on its own if the Japanese invaded. As a PR stunt, the army sent people out to teach Seattle women (and possibly others) how to shoot a rifle. My mother had to go to this - she said that it was odd because most of the women already knew how to shoot. Her generation, born in the 1920s, tended to be quite familiar with firearms and pot shooting for supper on camping trips. (Rabbits and squirrels are the usual pot hunting targets, in the NW, more rabbits maybe than anything else since squirrel is generally regarded as "tree rat.")

I am afraid the only way to bring manufacturing back to the the US is to implement tariffs to make foreign good more expensive. But we have signed trade agreements that were one sided, and not in our favor.

I see the Chinese are signing agreements for currency swaps with just about any nation that will go along with their plan. If the Chinese currency becomes the new reserve currency, it will be the end of the dollar. We will see such an inflation, we will no longer be able to buy the cheap Asian goods.

Now where does that leave us?

To the Amero or whatever they are calling the new North American union money. American fake backed by nothing money can't last long when they are going to be taking care of all the new illegals. Also all of these conflicts around the world are being funded on both sides with US dollars, troops, and weapons. It's getting crazy. We need to go back to trade with in communities.

We will go back to trading within communities. It's already starting. Even Americans know the value of the dollar is not backed by anything solid. No gold, No silver, No oil, even. It's just a piece of paper with a number on it. Today that number might get me a gallon of milk. Tomorrow that same number might only buy me a stick of butter. Whereas those of us who are fed up with it already are trading goods instead of currency. A gallon of milk from my neighbor's cow for a dozen eggs from my chickens. A jar of homemade jelly for a bar of homemade soap, etc. We can survive this, if we are smart about it now.

That's right!

Well, the village economy won't do the trick. The shoemaker works all week making a pair of shoes, but they are so expensive no one in the village can afford them. They all run off to Wally World and buy shoes made in China.

Some of us believe in keeping a year's supply of food stuffs and goods that would tide us over in hard times. Unfortunately, there are those that live off of the system, and when their EBT cards won't buy them anything, they are not about to do without.

Remember the Watts riots? If you have something set aside, keep real quiet about it. Be discrete. Don't be a victim.

I think transportation costs will eventually do that for us. VW just built its first US plant in years. Shipping cars is not cheep... As oil prices go up so will buying local. Bigger items first an then smaller stuff..

Please tell me what currency is backed by gold, silver, or oil, or anything.
