Great Marans Breeder?

I am drooling over getting some marans hens this coming spring.... But I was reading it is hard to find a good breeder- any advice? Is this not something to buy from a hatchery- go with a breeder??

Definitely go with a breeder, the egg color will be a lot better than from a hatchery.

What color Marans do you want? Wynette breeds BCM's and she's also in Michigan.

I think I would want a black cooper - I am looking for those deep dark brown eggs.
