Great Pyrenees

I have a GPxlab that has been a super addition. I have a terrible coyote problem and in the 3 years I have had him, I have lost one guinea free ranging. I have gone out of town up to a week at a time and have left him out because I didn't think I'd have any chickens left if he wasn't there 24/7. I had even left all the guineas out because I figured they would be too much for the hens locked up in the coop. Got him at the pound and he was raised by geese and ducks. Definitely criteria for any future dogs.

Not sure who's protecting who.

I heard they are good for livestock.I have a lab and she is not going crazy over the chickens but she sure does want to get one. Oh! We have a yorkie and she is going crazy over they chickens and is trying to get them.. She crazy little dog.

I've always had Pyrenees lgd, although we currently have one that's half English Shepherd. Also have several others. I have found that introduceing them very young has worked best for us. Yes they will try to check out and play with the chickens but as long as its older birds, they'll get pecked and screamed at enough to learn to respect them. They will then typically see them as part of the pack and protect them. Just how it's worked here.;) hope it helps.:frow
