Hello everybody,

Just to tell everybody a little about my self I have been raising blue peafowl for a little time now, and i always wish to own a pair of specifier green peafowl. Because there is not much space left on my families property, I wouldn't be able to create an aviary big enough for any large amount of green peafowl as they are very flighty birds. Although, my family in Bangladesh owns quite a bit of land which can be used to create several aviaries for specifier peafowl which were once native to that area. I have read some reports indicating that the last sighting of these peafowl in Bangladesh was in 1999 in southeastern area of the country, especially in the Garjania of the Chittagong hill tracts and perhaps throughout the whole the whole chittagong hilltracts and lowlands. These birds are still present in neighboring Myanmar. I hope to reintroduce these birds to that area although I have no information on how industrialized or how unchanged that area is, which is why I am writing this. My hope is that someone who has any info that can help me reads this or somebody who lives in Bangladesh who shares this interest can tell me if the area has changed or not. if not i can arrange for birds to be brought from from neighboring Burma. To do such a thing I will need info on pure green peafowl breeders in Burma. If anyone knows anything that can help me, please write below or email me at [email protected]

page 3 10 and 15 have info specifically on specifer.
the pdf does not seem to distinguish between the possible 2 sub-speciees pf specifer

What a fun project. I hope it goes well and would be interested to know how it goes. I am not in the area at all but I did do a google search and switched it to the satellite view. It looks like a lot of farmland with houses kind of far apart. Lots of trees, very green. Looks like it is a pretty area. Hopefully somebody familiar with it is able to help.

VERY INTERESTING !
First you need to know if this is really exting in this region ... is there really scientific studies on this problem?
Sometimes the villagers or hunters know more!
In southern Thailand were found récement ' wild ' Pavo muticus muticus.

Find sites of Natural or National Parks in this area and ask them questions!
Google can even help you to find things in Bengali language!

First of all we must prove it is spicifer that lived in Bangladesh and India. We don't want to repeat what happened in Malaysia with the reintroduction of Javanese and other composite peafowl. I don't think they are spicifer they are a little brighter.
