Hello everybody,
Just to tell everybody a little about my self I have been raising blue peafowl for a little time now, and i always wish to own a pair of specifier green peafowl. Because there is not much space left on my families property, I wouldn't be able to create an aviary big enough for any large amount of green peafowl as they are very flighty birds. Although, my family in Bangladesh owns quite a bit of land which can be used to create several aviaries for specifier peafowl which were once native to that area. I have read some reports indicating that the last sighting of these peafowl in Bangladesh was in 1999 in southeastern area of the country, especially in the Garjania of the Chittagong hill tracts and perhaps throughout the whole the whole chittagong hilltracts and lowlands. These birds are still present in neighboring Myanmar. I hope to reintroduce these birds to that area although I have no information on how industrialized or how unchanged that area is, which is why I am writing this. My hope is that someone who has any info that can help me reads this or somebody who lives in Bangladesh who shares this interest can tell me if the area has changed or not. if not i can arrange for birds to be brought from from neighboring Burma. To do such a thing I will need info on pure green peafowl breeders in Burma. If anyone knows anything that can help me, please write below or email me at [email protected]
-Thanks, Areeb Hossain
