Brownsville, KY near Bowling Green. April 17, 2010.

Who's going? This will be my first show ever, and it would be great if I knew there will be friendly faces there, looking for me. I'm bringing seven birds of the bantam Cochin, Silkie, and Serama varieties. I used to show horses, so I have an idea of what to bring, but I need to know if there are "secrets" that may not occur to me. Hold my hand please!

Also, I didn't see a coop-out time. Am I obliged to stay until Sunday, or can I hit the road Saturday night. I'm really cheap when it comes to myself, so I'd rather take a nap in my car than get a hotel room. That way I can spend more money on chickens!

I went, and I came back unscathed. Briarpatch Bantams let me look over his shoulder the whole day to see his prep work, and I participated in my first Serama fashion revue (table top judging). I learned a lot, like KY doesn't observe daylight savings time. I knew I'd get there early, but it seems I arrived at 5am. My birds are like babies in the car, and while quiet when I'm driving, start squawking when I stop. So, no nap for me!

Saw a lot of good birds, met some people, and got a couple of opinions about what color my Silkie hen is. Isabel partridge is the latest suggestion. I don't know if I'll be back there (6 hour drive), but I definately want to sell all my AOV Cochins and get some good stuff for future shows!

I have yet to make that drive...lol...However I do go to shows in Shelbyville, KY, Columbus IN and Connersville... Your actually in a good location alot of shows up there in Ohio with Nationals in Columbus and Lucasville has great shows and swap meets.
Like you said get rid of the odds and ends and invest in some show quality birds...be sure to get the check book out though! Best of luck in future showing!
