Thanks for all the positive and nice comments. When spring arrives, I plan to do one in a different design where each of the peaked roof sections will be 2 feet x 4 feet. With a nice overhang on all the edges, I think it might look good too. I'll try to take progress pics along the way and post them here.

Love love the coop OP!

I have been toying with this idea for some time-- my horse barns are in full sun an the metal roofs get very hot. Looking for a win-win situation.

After watching a recent MIT project on hydroponics which featured a waterless design using a misting system instead, I do wonder if soil can be replaced with a vermiculite which is very light weight??

As you can see still trying to find solutions to the obvious problems.
