I got Prince Peter yesterday, he's a Sebastopol. Yesterday his stools were nice and formed, no diarrhea at all. Today, whoa! Not only does he have diarrhea but he has gas! I can hear the little brat farting!!

And believe me, it does NOT smell good!!

I'm wondering if this is something to be concerned with or could it be the change in his diet? He was eating Dumor (yuck) food, grass and weeds at his old owners house. Yesterday he ate not only grass and weeds, but kale, collards, grapes, peas, and Purine duck grower, plus I'm sure there were things that I forgot.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Even a change from one brand to another of feed will cause strange
poops to occur in most birds. Unless it continues I wouldn't be too
worried. My chickens poo changes all the time because they eat
anything and everything.

I was hoping someone would say that. I raise parrots and have for almost 30 years. Once when forgetting that I had fed them cranberries the night before, I saw red stools in one of my macaws and raced them to the vet.

$275 later, the vet informed me it was the cranberries I fed them. Live and learn. Dietary changes with them can cause that. I was thinking maybe stress from being taken from his siblings and then moving to my zoo and food changes.

Thank you for your speedy response.

Laurie
