Our pumpkins were too much last year and pretty well planted themselves. Thanks to the seed exchange, we are going to have a crazy number and variety this year! We picked up a bunch of composted horse manure and put it around the edges of the garden. I plan on scooping out small holes, filling with dirt and a couple of seeds and as the pumpkins/squash grow (on opposites sides of the garden!) we are going to poke them through the fence and out to the chicken zone. They don't seem to like the leaves, so I hope they are safe!
It was down right hot here today! Mom has been hinting about the last apple tree needing pruning, so did that, the orange and all the rest of the volunteer peach squad of trees. In past years, I would have had 5 or 6 truck loads to the green waste recycling, but this time I think we are down to what we can put in a couple of weeks worth of curbside pick up green waste. This might not seem like a big deal, but it has taken about 5 years and at least 50 trips to the dump to get the yard to a more manageable state!
I pulled out my seeds, but ran out of time and energy to pick out the ones to plant now, and the ones I owe to others!
We had another half dozen raspberries get ripe too!
Oh and the fruit trees are about to bloom here! And the strawberries have fruit too!
When my son was younger he too found Bob, a small snapper. He put him in is pocket and thought Bob was dead. That was until the warmth brought Bob back to life.DS gave Bob to the science teacher and he lived for many years in the aquarium.
Whoa, de'jevu.
Funny how that happens. D'ejavu that is.
Have you named yours?
