Green thumb is itching, anyone else?

I planted a bunch of seeds in my greenhouse.. at $0.20 a packet, I felt the risk of frost was not too bad. Spent a whole 2 dollars..

I've got brocolli going, Brussels, snap peas, roma's and canning tomatoes, squash of every variety *laugh*, lemon cucumbers, basil, bell peppers, poblano's, spinach. I'm also trying to overwinter my peppers from last year. Supposedly they can go for 5 years if you get them through the winters. So far, only one bell made it for sure, it's still in full leaves.. the rest looks iffy. My strawberries are on the porch in a big tub. They tried to bloom a few days ago.. silly weather here. I was outside in a T-shirt yesterday!

It's all recommended to be seeded outdoors in March, so pre-seeding it last week didn't seem like too bad a stretch. We'll see what happens. If it doesn't work, I'll spend another $2 to get new ones to plant directly

(or I use it as an excuse to order heirloom seeds instead)

I know that feeling! We have two goats and are now in the learning stages of trying to raise them!

They are a pain to me, but The Beautiful Countess Marina loves them! Hahaha! So they jump fences, get into everything, try to walk on the car, and man are they a handful! Hahahaha!

We'll get the hang of it though, bigger fences and all!

Was out yesterday running a cord to put light in a coop and pulling some dead tomatoes. I built a bench today too it was so nice out there. If we had a few more days like yesterday I'd be cleaning up a bit. Maybe even dumping coop cleanings into the beds.

Catalogs are still coming. Don't forget to order as many as you can. Some have the same thing but at a cheaper price. You never know.

Got take the time to draw up my planting plan on what I'm going to plant and where. Will be starting some seeds soon though.

I am thinking about cold framing in a few raised beds to start some cabbage and broccoli and brussels sprouts. Not sure yet though. I can't wait for the warm weather! Can Not Wait!

We are going to be working in our yard this Saturday. Transplanting more flower bulbs. Mostly thinning out. Also have to weed and feed our yard. Oh by the way chicken manure makes centipede grass grow thick like crazy! Weeds do not have a chance as thick as it gets. Will be talking to a farmer who has chicken houses to get some of his compost to put on our yard! We are waiting for Easter to plant out garden. Will start some seeds inside soon. Looking forward to home grown vegetables. Grilled zucchini and squash! Awesome! Happy gardening:D

Oh yes, grilled zucchini mmmm. And zucchini bread. Last year my zucchini and tomatoes were the only two things that grew decently. I was using a different area of my yard and I just shouldn't have done that.

My spinach is already an inch tall in the greenhouse.. I haven't finished my beds yet. I may have to transplant them into the old beds. Don't really want to, but they're super cramped in their seed containers.

I want to get some more things to grow. Some potatoes, garlic, onions.. I found this wonderful heirloom website, it's tempting me.

Our favorite way with zucchini is to harvest when they're still slender and about 6 or 8 inches long...slice them about a quarter inch thick and saute them in some butter and onion and garlic...yum! We put in a yellow and a green each year. Most of it goes to the chickens and the compost heap, but we have lots of good fresh dinners with it. Those dang things are just SO prolific! When I find one that hid under a leaf and got huge, I grate and freeze it. You can add that to soups and stews and chili...makes for good thickening and it's so mild flavored and grated so fine, you really never know it's there.

It's almost time to start some of our seeds and I'm really getting antsy. We have 2 or 3 days of near 60 with lots of sun, then a few dreary ones and a couple inches of snow and then back to the warm...I'm ready for it to settle down already! LOL

I changed the windows out on my house. I kept the old windows . I am going to use them and make a green house with them. I will also make it solar powered. Fan and lights. But I have to have time to do it. I am assistant coaching my youngest sons soccer team agian this year.
My wifes grandparents have been in and out of hospital since the end of last october. Her grandmother just came home from Emory this week. They are doing much better. This year they will be married for 60 years. So we, mostly her, have been helping them. I have been working and taking care of our boys while she has been out of town. And on weekend I would go help her out and her granddad, being her grandmother was the one mostly in hospital all the time. Had several scary moments with both.

You're a good husband. You sometimes wonder how you ever get it all done. My mom is 87 and thank God is in great health. Just gave up driving last year to save money on the insurance and gas basically.she lives in the same town as my sister so she is the one that checks in on her.
Punksatony Phil didn't see he's shadow so an early spring. Bring it on.

Do you have the fungal problem on your zucchini in Colorado like we do in Ny? Didn't get one last year.
