Green thumb is itching, anyone else?

My youngest son and I weeded a flower bed and put the shaving and chicken litter from pen in the flower bed. And we had about 2 plus inches of rain today. Bet the nitrogen from their scat makes it green and grow well.:)

Everytime I grew an Amaryllis they would always collaps under their own weight

No matter how many scewers and whatnots I'd try to support the thing with.

Yours is a really pretty one.

I walked out into my kitchen today and the taller of the 2 stalks was bent over.

I wrapped it with some duct tape and propped it against a wall...maybe I'll get lucky and it will be ok.

I actually emailed a website to see what type it was, apparently it has some mosaic disease....if I can have a diseased plant that grows this well, then I'm VERY happy having multiple amaryllis.

I checked my little green house today. My sugar snaps are already 2 inches tall with 2-3 sets of leaves. They're in a hurry! Best not get any frost. I was super early with it this year.. I feel like I am running behind for some reason. Might be because I still have to finish the beds LOL

Everything but my squashes have started sprouting; tomatoes, cucumbers, spinach, brocolli. Squash seeds take a little longer, I seem to remember.

It's been mild here to say the least.

Oh, I bought some more seeds too. And a red grape sapling. I've told my fiance he needs to keep me out the store. Everytime I go in I come home with more stuff to grow (I saw a nice persimmon I want.. )

I've been making beds and moving plants/bulbs/and trees for the past week. I was replanting iris, forsythia, raspberries, and cherry trees. I think I am finished w/ the forsythia and raspberries, but still have some work on the iris and cherry trees. Most of the garden is mostly ready, but I don't have a place to start seeds this early.

I still have to do my irises also. They multiply fast. And my day lilies also

Mine are under 2 feet of snow.
Man do I have a lot of work ahead of me. My original border garden should really be completely overhauled. I've neglected it since ive gone crazy with my flock and veggies. I could probably split it in two. I just lack the space for another garden .

Went to the book store Barnes and Noble. We have a membership and they e-mail me coupons, which I use to buy Starbucks or toys for the kids.

anyhow. Here's the scoop.

The "Ark of Taste" you gotta look that up. Though for me it was the article about chickens breeds that drew me in.

"Slow Food USA website. gotta look that up.

www.albc-usa.org/documents/cookingheritagechicken.pdf. Gotta look that up. Heritage breed require different cooking methods than store bought birds.

Gotta go dinner is ready. I'll get back to you.

I took out my strawberries last year and put them in a concrete mixing trough in Miracle grow, so I could put plastic over the mess that is Alabama clay .. I planted them today in a new bed.. I was amazed by the root balls these guys (girls?) had. I bought two pots last year, which had three small plants each.. I am up to 12 big plants now. Thank you miracle grow
