Starting in September I slowly built a small 8x8 greenhouse.

Yes, Not recommended in cold climates. It doesn't get very cold here so I can make that mistake.

Too much heat lost on the cold cold nights. When the cold air is under the deck iit adds one more plane of cold air. Contact with the ground contains heat and can add heat on a bitter cold day. If you keep a greenhouse about 32 degrees then heating starts to cost more when you allow very cold air under the floor. If I had a grade on my land I would build into the side of a hill, But I have a yard that floods frequently so I built the greenhouse on the deck.

Very interesting! Nice job. What have you gotten from it so far?

My husband built a greenhouse last fall. I used it to start my seeds this past spring, grow some greens, and we'll see how long the two tomato plants in there last. I used it as "I need warmth and light and spring" therapy back in February and March. That was wonderful in itself.

So exciting!! We built one last December. I add reclaimed windows as we find them, but initially the entire structure was wrapped in plastic. We dug the foundation in a couple of hours and the next day built the entire thing, minus a door, in 11 hours (with breaks). The last two photos are how it looks today. The snowing photo was the day we added the door and the roof. The first two were the day we built it.

I was amazing at how much faster my seedlings grew in the greenhouse!! I was able to grow more and clear off my kitchen table. Previously the table was taken over by seed starting from February into late April!

Very interesting! Nice job. What have you gotten from it so far?

I just enclosed it and so far alls I have growing are potted Tomato and Pepper plants from summer cut back to regrow. I will be taking cuttings from them all winter long and planting them in the ground come spring. I started some Tomato, Basil, Oregano, and sunflower seeds as well as some ginger root in there. I placed my Miracle Berry plant in there, still waiting to for fruit production on that.

Adding this picture, I am still building it on the inside which I have the feeling will be the norm. As I change plants and methods the inside will be built deconstructed and rebuilt until I move.
