We live on the verry south eastern side of duncan, past startex. We are currently building a guinea coop and would have no where to put them, the coop should be done by april though. How many acres do ya live on? And what side of duncan? We live on about 5 acres.

Cant wait for the SC meet up...

I've got black silkie roos for sale. They carry the blue gene. Anybody interested let me know, I'll give you a good deal. How do ya'll handle your roos? Do you only sell hens in pairs so you don't get stuck with a bunch of roosters? I'd like to know what others are doing, cause I need to change what I'm doing.

With Silkies it would be best to sell in pairs. Or even sell Frizzles or Sizzles with them. The reason I say that is because I do not like to eat Silkies, Sizzles or Frizzles. I do not like the meat and they are so darned cute, to boot!

But then, you see I sell some that could be girls without matching them up. If I know they are boys then I do my best to stick to my guns and sell as a pair or trio. Yeah, we all know how that goes for me.........the woman with 10 gazillion roos!

Here's a shout out from another Upstate, SC chicken owner. We're in Pauline, Sparkle City's country side>>>>> Maybe we'll see some of you in Morganton, NC tomorrow. Printing directions as we speak.

Nadine, you are not alone.

I have at least as many roosters as I do hens. Not good for business but .... they are sweet too. And no, I can't sell my silkies for to be eaten. I have some asian customers that would buy them as they love the dark skin and meat but .... they are so darn cute how could anybody eat one? I did let some silkies go too young and I wasn't sure of the gender so I decided not to do that again. And these that I've kept, most are roos. Some are just pet quality so it will take a while to find the right home. I'm sure some little girl somewhere would love to have them.

Kimberly - best of luck tomorrow at the show!! I'll be thinking about ya'll that are there having fun without me.

Be sure and let us know how it goes...and what you all come home with.

I live on the other side of Duncan, at I-85 and Hwy 101. Right across the interstate from the BMW plant. We have 21 acres. I didn't know about the S.C. meet up, thanks for sharing that info.
