I've been around animals about as long as I can remember. Took the first flap at raising my own this year!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 21.
Was I expecting to get this many before Christmas?
No.
Am I crazy?
Probably.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Browns
Eggers
Orpingtons
Wyandottes
Barred Rockers
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
• Free therapy (well, almost)
• Low-maintenance (feed, water, let loose on the bugs & skeeters)
• Unexpected intelligence (plus the occasional-yet-still-astonishing lack thereof)
• They come when called & LET ME PET THEM FLUFFY BUTTS
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Readin' things (Bible mostly), makin' things, and explorin' things.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My family is a big one (we put the "over" in extended), I had/took care of hundreds of critters.
Not counting large livestock or family pets, the current crowd is (in order of appearance): fish, cats, rabbits, ducks, chickens, mice...aw, rats! And as for work, my occupation includes being a humble salescluck, and a (not-so-humble) chicken tender

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Found your lovely haven sometime early this year via searching the interwebs for a way to train the little cheeky cluckers (You, Fluffed, UP!) as wee chicks.
Today, I join in solidarity, with those who have also found their peace in the warm wings and caring talons of an ever expanding legion of uncontrollable feathery chaos. Please bless this wonderful community and keep every chicken and its tender as joyful and healthy as can be. In Jesus' glorious name,
