I am new to the bird raising community. Always on the hunt for helpful information which is what landed me here. I currently have 23 birds.(9 Bobwhites and 14 coturnix quail ) I bought them at 3 weeks of age and have been getting eggs from the coturnix for a couple of months now. No eggs yet from the bobwhites. The FedEx truck just dropped off my new incubator so now I am in for a new experience. Wish me luck!

Congrats on all those quail!! I keep Bobwhites myself as well as chickens. Your Bobs will not be mature until they are well over 6 months of age. Generally they start to breed and lay the spring after they have hatched. So next spring they will be ready for breeding. You might get an egg or two in the late fall, but count on next year. Quail are seasonal layers as well.

Stop by our Quail section to chat with other quail owners...https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/48/quail

Enjoy your new birds and welcome to our flock!

I'm glad you joined us.

I've never kept quail, but have always thought that they seemed like cute little birds! Good luck with yours.

I'm glad you joined our community!

Good luck with all of your quail! I've never raised any, but they seem like they'd be interesting little birds to keep.
