Hi, I'm new to this site!
I haven't owned chickens in years and I would like to start again, they were so much fun to have! I found this site while looking for coop building info. I already have a generous 8'x16' shed I plan to convert into a chicken coop/ storage. I'm mostly looking for info on runs and interior furnishings. I don't want to dive in half cocked! I look forward to reading the various posts submitted by the community!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. My family and I have visited Alaska on several occasions and love it there. :o) If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Hi and welcome to BYC - its great that you are rejuvenating your chicken keeping experience. Good luck with the coop design and whilst there lots of info, there's no harm in popping out the odd post or two if you need a bit of advice,

All the best

And welcome back to chickens! How nice you can get back into a hobby you enjoyed. Sheds make great coops and yours sounds like a nice size. You might like to look at these runs for some ideas of what you'd like to do:

Good luck to you and if you have any questions, always feel free to ask!

Is there a section with official state threads? I did a search in the forums and found several that had Alaska in the title, but most of them were fairly inactive.

I would suggest posting on them anyway. Some of them will answer and the thread will become active again. I did that some months ago with members in the Wasilla/Palmer area and started receiving replies.
