(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I’m pretty new to chickens, I first got three chickens back in January 2018
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We’ve got three lovely hens that are free to roam in our woodland garden.
(3) What breeds do you have?
We’ve got a white Leghorn, an Isabrown and an Andalusian Blue.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Hens are wonderful animals. We are a vegetarian family and eating the eggs from our hens makes us all happy whilst avoiding supermarket eggs from God-knows-where.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love reading, cycling and, living in a nature reserve near Barcelona, we often go for a walk in the woods. I also enjoy fermenting milk and vegetables, we drink our own kombucha, kefir and eat our own kimchi and the like.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We are a family of four, including our two teens, we also have a cat. My wife and I are both English teachers. I teach at a Waldorf Steiner school.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC back in 2018 whenever I started panicking because I was worry-sick with something or other, and your great site always offered me proper and useful advice to help me with any issues I encountered with our chickens. I finally joined BYC because I’d love to give something in return now that I am feeling moreconfident with raising chickens! This is a pic of our home in the Catalan woods.
