This is to weird less than 3 weeks after this post and I now can hear chickens clucking outside my house. lol

Good luck with your zoning ordinances. I'm in the same situation but I am in a farming zoning so I should have no problems. Have fun with your chicks.

Greetings Kreisherk!
If you are on the East side of Lake Helen, you probably won't have a problem - especially if the back yards are more than 100 feet between borders in any direction. Here on the West side, we have problems keeping even a few hens, because the code requires 100 feet between neighboring homes and a hen house/yard and the back yards are only 90ft x 50ft. Not fair, not in the aspiring hen owner's control, but it is what it is. Unless we keep the hens in the house or on a leash in the front yard. Meh.

Here is the city code, which the city clerk assured me is up to date as of Oct 21, 2015. You will want to check section 18 - animals, which is very brief on livestock. Apparently everything livestock is also a grazing animal and vice versa.

Sorry I'm late to the party, but I don't get on here much anymore since Patrick made me get rid of my chickens at the behest of my neighbors who don't keep pets of any kind and only tolerate my dog.
