Your profile says you're in Sanford! What a coincidence! :)

Work in Cary but love living here in Sanford. Got my Welsummers from Carolina Town and Country and the rest from Cackle.

Ah! They are adorable. :)
I used to work at Town and Country (last year) but still go there occasionally. I got probably 25% of my chicks there and the rest at Pittsboro Feed because they had a better variety this year. I've got a couple of orders of chicks from My Pet Chicken due next month and some hatching eggs from eBay.
This time next year I hope to be selling eggs and chicks. :)

Wow, small world getting smaller

. Do you happen to know where Town & Country get their chicks. I'm really pleased with the Welsummers. I got there as soon as the arrived and picked out the 5 that had the darkest and clearest markings. I've read about Pittsboro and probably head up there soon to check things out.

Sounds like you have a diverse flock. Post some pics of your chicks and share the fun!

I think they get most of their chicks from McMurray Hatchery BUT since they are a small business they also buy chicks from local breeders and resell them. I have even sold them chicks before. But since your chicks came in a shipment, they were likely from McMurray.
If you go to Pittsboro Feed, I would recommend calling them first just in case they have sold out already. :) They seem to get new shipments on Fridays.
I have gotten a lot of healthy chicks there but it has taken strategic planning to get there soon after the chicks arrive to ensure There are still any left!
I actually went there today and they had Australorps, black jersey giants, Easter Eggers, silver laced Wyandottes, Buff Orpingtons, and a few others. They also have a great selection of feed not only for chickens but cats, dogs and livestock. :)
