Greetings from Ohio!

Hi! Welcome to BYC! Love your coop! I have a Buckeye, I don't know if they all have a similar personality, but mine is sweet and at the same time crafty, quick, and wild-ish. While the other hens take their time to lay an egg, she runs in, drops the egg in a second and runs back out to have fun and not miss anything
I am new to keeping chickens and BYC has helped me so much. All the fun books and famous chicken keepers don't really keep it real and address the not so fun situations that come up, but BYC does and has been a lifesaver for me.
Thanks for the warm welcome! I had a few Buckeyes about 2 years ago and LOVED them. Even the rooster was wonderful. I am looking forward to getting my chicks soon! I agree, the books don't address every issue and talking to real people is much better.

Welcome to BYC. I am a transplanted buckeye living in Kentucky. I wanted to start my flock with Buckeyes. I like that they have smaller combs and wattles. I wanted to help the breed flourish. I got too anxious to start chicken keeping and decided to start with a chocolate orpington cockerel and pullet since they were readily available in my area. I didn't want to try hatching or ordering chicks. Hope you enjoy the interactions with members here. There are some fun and funny members. I'll be watching for a post for when you've started your buckeye flock.
Hi, thanks for the welcome! It gets pretty cold up here by the lake in winter. So I'm a big fan of pea combs! I tried Wyandottes for that reason but ended up with a bunch of feather pickers, a problem I'd never had until then. The Buckeyes I had 2 years ago were very nice and even the rooster was a winner. I'm really looking forward to having them again!
