We have a similar spider we call a Writer Spider (Garden Spider) because it makes a big zigzag in the center of the web.

They're called different things but they're the same spider, Banana, Writer and Garden spider. I like Banana better because it's funny.

They will also shake their web if you irritate them... if you scare them they just drop right out of sight!
