Hi I am new to this group, but I have read some very helpful info from here, so I started to feel like I needed to join. We got into chicken by accident. There was a chicken walking down our street (we are in the city and none of our neighbors have chickens) so we took her in. The kids named her Nugget (like golden nugget, not happy meal nugget). Then we got 2 more.

Unfortunately Nugget is injured right now. She got bit by my chiweenie dog while she tried to eat his food. Her eye will be lost I took her to the vet. $1500 to surgically remove it. So I just took the antibiotics and non steroidal anti inflammatory instead, which set me back $100. I was hesitant to give her the drugs, but she won't eat and she is wobbly. She is drinking water on her own, though.

What a fun way to get into chickens. First there was one. Then there were two more. Wonder how many more there will by by another say....two months?
