Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Jerseys are very hardy birds. More feathers than the average breed, heavier, just sturdy all around. They will do just fine as long as your coop is large enough so there is space between their heads and the ceiling and you have good ventilation in your ceiling. About 1 sq foot of vent space per bird. Never close them in tight, lots of moisture is produced by breathing and pooping and this moisture needs to rise above the birds and out the vents. Birds roost low to the floor, moisture gets drawn out the roof.

Hi! North Jersey raised myself. JG are great birds! Don’t fear the cold. They don’t mind as long as they have a draft free coop, and a roost (plywood laying the wide way) to hunker down on, and warm their feet.

Hi. We’ve had two Jersey Giants for about 9 months. Both good layers and very entertaining. I’m a little nervous about the winter. Hopefully they are hardy Jersey Girls!
