Hello Thad and Melissa, and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
There are pros and cons to chicken tractors. When I was first getting started I too considered building a tractor but after more research, abandoned the idea due to the extra labor entailed in moving it regularly. I then built an elevated coop with attached secure run which worked very well for the birds but I, specifically my back and occasionally my forehead, HATED it. So the following year I converted a shed into my coop and have never looked back. Absolutely love, Love, LOVE it!
