New here... I am "momma" to 2 female ducks (this spring we lost our 3rd female - a mallard - suddenly to chronic heart disease, sadly, at the age of 7yrs). 
The other two are a Welsh Harlequin and what we believe to be a Gadwell (or mix) (she's a rescue from Humane Society) Though we enjoy the eggs they provide, these are purely pets for us. We didn't set out to be duck owners, but sometimes life has other plans for us, right? And what started as a rescue of one, became three. We are in love as they are so sweet, social and entertaining. We have two dogs, a rat terrier mix and a pug, who are unfazed by their feathered companions. I found BYC years ago as a resource for pen ideas and feeding recommendations, and finally sat down long enough to sign up! I look forward to being a part of the community.
