Well, tbh I really don't want to get rid of any of the first 23 chickens. I am hoping to hatch enough hens to make the correct ratio. I really need to get a few bantam hens for our Seabright. I'm not sure he's going to be able to mate with the regular size hens as they are enormous and he is tiny! So maybe he shouldn't even count against my ratio.Hello and welcome to BYC!Glad you joined.

Oh so beautiful and such a variety. Thank you. They are gorgeous!
Thank you! We love variety and have made it a point to get as many varieties as we can. We are incubating 17 eggs and are on day 4. With so much variety its hard to tell what we might get. At this point, we still don't even know what eggs belong to each hen. We know which eggs are our silkie eggs and we think the classic regular brown eggs belong to the Amberlinks. Beyond that, we really don't know. We decided to try and incubation experiment as we thought it might help us know who is laying which eggs and which roosters are fertilizing.Oh so beautiful and such a variety. Thank you. Have you considered penning any of them together? Like I'm doing silky color genetics so putting 1 roo with 3 particular hens in one pen, then 1 roo with particular hens in another. Not in cages, but rather 8' x 8' or so pens with a hutch in each for sleeping. Just tossing that in for an idea to pinpoint what you'll be hatching.Thank you! I also read that we could get some sex-links with our Wyandotte Roo and our Barred Rock hens. Just can't wait for the Ameraucana's and Cream Legbar to start laying so we can get some variety in our eggs also. Here are the dozen we got today.View attachment 3698981
