I am Scott Sayward. I live with Jim Williams in Upstate NY; the Adk Mts. to be exact.
I am using the sample template questions to get us statrted.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I was born and raised on a farm but have not had chickens in 30 yrs. This is a new venture. We decided to repurpose an old outhouse for a small coop to get us started.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We have 5 hens and one Roo.
(3) What breeds do you have? The hens are Golden Reds from Reich's Poultry in Penn. My brother ordered some chix this spring and I got some from him. I know virtually nothing about them, except for what little bit I've read here.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Just an on line search, but I LOVE the site already.!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I do pysanky/ Ukranian eggs and have also been learning to etch and carve eggs.......so the thought of little, small pullets is exciting!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We live on the Boquet River on 30 acres , some woods and some field. We have some pretty big gardens and have two outdoor cats and two dogs. I (Scott) just started my own business, The Boquet River Jelly Mill. I make wild crafted jams, and some kick *** good Jalapeno mustard.......... My "real job" is working as a social worker for the State Of NY.
