I recently purchased 24 Grey Indian Runner Ducklings at auction (likely from a Hatchery in Wisconsin). I am in Central MN. I would like to learn more about Indian Runners in general and particularly the Grey. My plans are to establish and maintain a flock of these varieties of Runners, with a focus on respectable egg production without too much sacrifice to type. Thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.

Here are two photos. They were at a local auction where 900 ducklings were being sold off, from a hatchery, I believe in Wisconsin. Several Runner varieties, Saxony, Appleyards, calls, mallards, and these grey runners were offered. I got them for less than $3.50 each. (I just hope they are not all drakes!) :)

I could be wrong, but those look like little rouens to me! (I don't think mallards since there is a clear double eye stripe on those.)
This is a rouen duckling.

I believe a gray (or blue) runner duckling should look more like this: They should have a more upright posture and a more solid color scheme I think.

There is a mallard variant colorwise, but your ducklings dont seem to have that particular upright posture... though I'm not 100% sure on that just from the current provided pictures. These are what the mallard coloration of runner ducks look like as ducklings though. You will probably be able to tell easiest since you are able to see them in person haha

Whatever they are, they're still absolutely adorable! :love
