Hi there! So I have two 12-week old runners, one drake one duck**, and I am having a tough time giving them grit. I have tried to keep it out and available to them, but they either get food and water mixed up in it OR when I separate it from their food, they poop in it.
I will probably end up elevating it in their setup but they still really don't touch it. Because of this, I've taken to sprinkling it on their food periodically throughout the day in addition to keeping some grit out. How did y'all get your ducks to eat their grit? What are your feeding/grit setups?
I am just about to put oyster-shell out as well for my lil duck lady so she can get nice and prepared for egg-laying, and am also wondering if I should supply grit in addition to oyster-shell or are they the same thing/can the drake eat that in lieu of grit too?
Any tips greatly appreciated

*****crossing my fingers he doesn't overbreed/harass her too much. he's a sweetie but is starting to show some mating behavior so I'll probably end up getting a few more ducks to lighten her load a bit!
