Grit for chicks

I originally bought "grit" for my chicks and just before mixing it into the food, caught that it said 'use only as directed'. So I read closer and regular chicken grit was labeled for chicks 10 weeks and older. The next day I went back to the feed store. I found grit labeled specifically as "chick grit" for 3 days-10 weeks.

i would love to buy chick grit at my local feed store....but they don't sell it!

they also don't sell DE....i had to order that online! i hated to do that cuz shipping was expensive.

I just use contractors sand for the chicks and my big chickens. I don't offer it though until I offer something other than their starter feed (like oatmeal). I have a little feed dish I put it in and leave it sit in the brooder. They can pick whatever size they think they need as contractors sand has varying size of sand and pebbles.
