Grit !!!!

Hi does anyone know if I can use this for my 2 week old chicks to start offering treats slowly ,
Struggling to find the correct grit for this age chicks in the uk

Chicks do not need grit unless they are eating whole seeds, which they should not be getting at that age. Chick feed is formulated to digest without requiring grit.

You can start with things like a little diced vegetables or grass, clover, flowers, etc.

Grass needs grit to digest.

I believe that has a lot of calcium in it (as parakeets/parrots have different needs) so check the packaging to see if calcium or "shell grit" is a component.

If you can't get chick grit, which isn't available everywhere, you can use a sieve or colander to sift small pieces out of adult grit, or even handfuls of gravel. Whatever falls through should be small enough.

My mother hens teach their babies to eat grit almost immediately in the form of sand, which is smaller in size but has various silica and rocky components. She also teaches them to eat eggshells that are laying around the yard.

But that grit looks to be an okay size for two weeks old. I do not know how you will get them to injest it, but 99.9% of that bag does look like the correct size for two weeks. Do you just mix it with their food?

?? 2 weeks? I start giving them grit at 2-3 days old, just as a hen would with her brood. Given all the dirt, bedding and bugs mine eat, it's extra insurance.

jokes aside I think it's too early at 2 weeks they should be getting some starter food, if the gamebird needs calcium so bad I would crush and grind small oyster shell or marble chip myself. I give that to my hen

oh ! I am certain the 'poultry grit' I buy here and the one you have given to your 2 day old chick is two different things then .By Size compatibility
