I hatched this (probably) girl about 5 weeks ago under a broody hen. She's one of 4 that hatched from 11 eggs from the farmers market (which were refrigerated, which is why the "grocery store"). I know she hatched from a blue egg, so she's part easter egger. There's apparently a small chance she's part Araucana according to the guy who was working the booth that day, but I'm thinking easter egger mutt mixed with something. I thought Rhode Island Red at first, but now I think she's too light. So, any guesses would be great. She looks to have a walnut comb, but I'm not very experienced with the different types of non-single combs, so I'm not sure. Definitely lumpier than my wyandottes comb was.

The website of the farm is here: http://deckfamilyfarm.com/livestock/pastured-chickens-egg-layers-and-turkeys/laying-hens/
I didn't think to ask if these were all of and the only breeds they had, but the guy did say that they don't intentionally breed their hens so 99% of the hens are from the hatchery, thus not all entirely mutts.

Anyway, tl;dr, assistance in identifying the other half of this easter egger mix would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has reason to believe these poor pictures indicate a roo please let me know that too.

The second picture is more color accurate.

She is very pretty!

Chicken genetics are very complicated. Skin color, comb shape, ear-lobe color, tail length, even eye color and shape can play a part in determining the parents. She is certainly part Easter Egger, and I would guess the other part was probably Rhode Island Red (as Marans and Dominiques I think have dominant genes).

This is my EE mix (sorry, its hiding its head). The other part I think is Buff Orpington

Hey. This cool combo made me think of a new "breed" name. The 'Easter Island'. Half Easter Egger, Half Rhode Island Red. ;)

Loving the name too!

Thanks all! I just hope she doesn't end up being as unbelievably loud as the Rhode Islands my brother had a few years ago. Those ladies drove me NUTS.
