Grooming silkies for show

Beautiful job - alot like doing up a show dog, except on them(Cockers) I used a Hindes pin brush, a slicker would break the hairs. They layed on their side and I would line brush each and every hair while using the dryer. Then turn them around to the other side.I love to watch people groom animals.
That's funny. I have show cockers too. Know all about washing and drying. I laughed when I saw the Chris Christensen products and I have that forced air dryer. Looks like I'm all set to groom my new Silkies.

They are so funny when they try to escape from the bath. I desperately need one of those dryers!

minichic please post pics of your cockers. what variety do you have? I used to raise them from late 60's thru late 70's, black & ascob variety (mosty reds & some"orange") Also worked for 'then' top Cocker handler Don Johnston (who passed away in 1995)

Thanks for all the tips! I just got done bathing for my first show! Helped me feel more comfortable.

I have bathed before, but not for show, so the details didn't matter as much.

Ok anyone have a suggestion on how I turn my splash's white feathers back to white.... Georgia clay has stained them brown.

Haha thanks! I alway feel like its a lost cause after her third bath and she is still brown!!
if you use a whitener shampoo, it does have to sit on them for at least 5 minutes. I put it on straight, works much better than mixing it with water. Unless you buy vetrolin whitening and brightening shampoo, that stuff is STRONG! That mixes well with water.

Awesome! I haven't tried whitening shampoo, I was hoping dawn would do the trick but looks like it won't. I can't wait to try it out!
